Xprim AQ Series

How to use AQ Series adhesive

1.   How to increase film strength and adhesion power

· Various kinds of cross-linker including emulsion type of epoxy and isocyanate

compounds can be added in the formulation to increase mechanical property of the coated film layer and adhesion to substances.

· Methylated melamin-formaldehyde resin is a very useful cross-linker.

· Silane coupling agent is also another material for this purpose

· Adding amount to the formulation is dependent of the kind of cross-linker and the type of application.

· Formulated liquid with cross-linker should be used up at one time to avoid forming gel of skin which may be caused by long storage.

2.   How to control slip anti-blocking property

· lnorganic and organic filler can be added in the formulation to get a good slip and anti-blocking property.

· For good clarity of coated layer, micro-sized colloidal silica or polymer beads are useful fillers.

· Wax emulsion or silicone polymer also can be used for this purpose.

3.   How to get a good wettability

· Non-ionic and anionic surfactant can be added as wetting agent in the formulation.

· Polyoxyentylene alkyl aryl ether, polysiloxane polyether copolymer and fluorocarbon compounds are very effective as non-ionic surfactants

· Sodium dioctyl sulfosuccinate is recommended as anionic surfactants.

4.   How to control surface tension

· It is very important to control surface tension, because pick-up weight, wettability and adhesion strength of top coating material depend on it.

· Surface tension can be controlled by mixing AQ-0300 which has lower dyne level,

about 42 dyne/cm2, and AQ-0700 which has higher dyne level, over 58 dyne/cm2.

· In addition to mixing ratio between AQ-0300 and AQ-0700 organic salt or inorganic salt like meter halide can be added to control surface tension of coated layer.

5.   How to get a good surface of coated layer

· Besides wetting agent, viscosity controlling agent of leveling agent can be added additionally to get a better coated surface.

· When the coated layer is a little hazy, it is recommendable to add a small amount of organic base

· Careful work for formulation is necessary to avoid aggregation or gel, which can cause defect of coated layer.

6.   How to make a formulation

· It is important to maintain moderate temperature(10-30), agitating speed and

addition order and speed of additives to obtain stability of formulation.

· It is also important to control Ph of formulation.

· Optimum sized filter should be used to get rid of any particles.
