Coupling Agent

Ximer CW-1

Ximer  CW-1 is proprietary mixture which contains the compound having vinyl group with a second ionic functional group.   The vinyl group will attach to an organic resin matrix while the ionic group attaches to an inorganic material or substrate to achieve a coupling effect.    Ximer coupling agent is predominately used as additives, binding organic materials to inorganic materials.   As a result, Addition of Ximer will improve the mechanical strength properties of materials.   An approximately 5-10% overall increase in the tensile strength will be expected with Ximer coupling agent.

Features :

Ximer CW-1 was developed as a coupling agent for reducing the interfacial surface energy difference between fiber or filler and matrix.   Ximer coupling agent is expected to form a covalent, ionic and a strong dipole dipole interaction between fiber or filler and resin matrix.  The vinyl group of Ximer will then crosslink into the matrix resin, forming a covalent bond within the network and another ionic group will evoke the strong ionic interaction.   Furthermore Improved wetting of the fiber surface with the matrix resin should yield an increased physical strength for the composite.
